Submit your favorite holiday recipe. All submitted recipes will be considered for publication in The Southern Illinoisan's 2009 Holiday Cookbook. You can also choose to enter your recipe in The Southern Illinoisan's 2009 Recipe Contest for a chance to win a prize!
Entrants submit their recipes in one of 10 categories: Appetizers, Salads, Breads, Side Dishes, Entrees, Cookies, Desserts, Vegetarian, Ethnic/International and Locally Grown. Recipes can only be entered in one category, chosen by the entrant.
All recipes entered for competition are reviewed by a panel of judges from The Southern Illinoisan. The judges select three finalists from each category and invite them to bring their prepared dish to the Holiday Cookoff, Saturday, November 7. An outside panel of judges tastes each prepared dish and scores them on taste, creativity and presentation. The judges scores are combined to determine the winner in each category.
Yes. For each category, the cook who enters the winning recipe wins a prize.
Yes. You may enter as many recipes as you'd like so long as each recipe is entered in only one category.
The 2009 Holiday Cookbook will be published with The Southern Illinoisan on Wednesday, November 18.
